The Peace of God

The peace of God is not simply an anti-war mantra or a quietness of soul. Shalom is a peace the says “You are now whole.” It is a wholeness of body, mind, soul, and spirit; a wholeness in the relationship between God and His creation, and the relationship amongst all peoples of the earth. When we ask for God’s peace, it comes with the beckoning of His Lordship. It cries out to us that true peace comes when we allow God to be Lord of our lives. His wholeness then becomes ours. Shalom.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive, 
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, 
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
