Mission

For those of us who have served in leadership positions, we often have mantras that stick with us. For me it has been these two main points:

  1. Anything with two heads is a monster.
  2. If you don’t know where you are going, you are never going to get there.

Mission is critical. It is vital to everything that we do as individuals and God’s Church. We have spent the last several weeks going through the sermon series “Who is this Jesus?” Jesus was God on a mission to save and redeem His creation. If Jesus could summarize His mission in one statement, He would probably repeat to us the words he spoke to Zacchaeus almost 2,000 years ago; “The son of man has come to seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:9). It was the mission of Jesus. It was His purpose.

Monday night the church board met to discuss this same topic. What is the mission of The Tipp City Church of the Nazarene? We brainstormed: who we are, what we do, why we do it, and for whom we do it. These questions drove us back to the same 3 words, over and over again: love, serve, and grow. We are starting a new year with a renewed mission. The mission of TC Naz is: Loving God, Serving Others, Growing Together. I believe God has lead us to this place to accomplish His work. We are missioners. Will you join us in our mission?
