Growing Together

A few months ago the board all sat discussing who we are as a Church. We talked about what is in our DNA, what makes us unique, how we do what we do here at TCNaz. At the end we began redefining our mission. For several years now the Churches’ mission has been: Loving God, Serving Others. It seemed true to us. It was a wonderful fit for our community of faith, but something was missing. We love and we serve, but we should also be growing. We decided to add the phrase “Growing Together”.
Scripture consistently points us towards a relationship with God that is ever moving, ever growing. We are not to stay stagnant like stale water that has sat out too long, but be refreshed and renewed consistently in the love of God. That love stretches us, sometimes causing aches and pains like a teenage boy who’s body is growing faster than it wants to. But growth is good, it is necessary for our maturity in Christ Jesus. Paul says this to the Church in Collosae: “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7
Over the next 6 weeks we will be digging into what it means to grow in Christ; how can we grow together as a church, as a body of believers? Will you begin asking God to speak to us as we follow Him? And even today may your roots grow down into Him, may your life be built on the solid foundation of God.
