NCN NEWS: Cuba

The Church of the Nazarene is grateful for the outpouring of prayerful support and the desire of so many to assist those impacted by the recent tragic event in Cuba. It is natural for the people of God to be moved by the Spirit to be generous and compassionate in response to suffering. Thank you for listening to the Spirit and looking for ways to respond.

First of all, it must be clearly stated that due to government restrictions, the Church of the Nazarene in the U.S. is unable, in any way, to receive any funds designated for the support of individual people in Cuba. It is a violation of U.S. law to receive such donations.

With that said, know that because of the continuous and faithful support of Nazarenes from outside the U.S., the global church is already in a position to provide whatever assistance may be needed to help those impacted.

While there is no way for U.S. individuals to provide direct support, we recognize many will still want to respond in some way. If you feel compelled to respond, there are two ways to do so:

  1. Continue to pray for all those affected by this tragic event.
  2. As a symbol of solidarity with the children who have been orphaned, give to the Global Child Development Fund that invests in the lives of children in other countries of the world in ways that make a difference, both for today and into eternity. Give through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.
