When You Don’t “Feel” Joyous

Let’s be honest, it is always something, something working to steal our joy, our hope. During the Christmas Season, more than ever, there is guilt attached to it as well! Why do I sense this disheartening during a time that is oozing with the joy of the coming Christ child.

Paul reminded the Roman church, that to make it through, we must be joyful in hope. So, maybe today doesn’t “feel” very joyous. That doesn’t mean that joy is illusive or has disappeared, it simply means that we must look to hope and find that joy. We hope in Christ Jesus, we hope into the Kingdom come, and in the meantime we are faithful in prayer and patient in our affliction. His “joy comes with the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

His Eye is on the Sparrow
Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches over me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
